This SoCal Life

It’s been 9 years since I moved to California and it’s still hard to believe that it’s been that long since I traded the cold winters of Northern New Jersey for the sunny seasons of Southern California.

It really doesn’t feel like it has been that long, and believe it or not, there are still times when I feel like I just got here. I recently made my way back to NJ for a friends wedding and I got the chance to spend a few days around my old stomping grounds and even made my way into the city.

After four days in my home state and a quick trip to NYC, it reminded me of all the places I neglected to explore back when I was living in the Tri-State area. I went from living in one of the smallest states in the US to one of the biggest and being that I left some much ground unexplored back home, with California being such a huge state, I guess that’s probably part of why I feel like I just got here.

…That was three months ago.

In my time here I feel like I’ve seen a fair amount. I’ve played tourist all over Los Angeles, visited vintage Hollywood in Palm Springs, sipped wine in a castle in Napa Valley, walked a cell in Alcatraz, toured breweries in San Diego, became a child again at Disneyland, unplugged and camped out for the first time, and as if that wasn’t enough, in the blink of an eye I can let loose and enjoy the nightlife and bright lights of Las Vegas. With so much more to explore, I know this is just the tip of the iceberg and I feel like I’m just getting started.
